The changes within Cambodia can be compared to the Mekong River. After flowing 4800 kilometres from its source on the Tibetan Plateau, the river divides into a delta in Southeast Asia and enters the South China Sea. The name of the delta – Cuu Long – is translated as 'Nine Dragons.' Today, the river splits into only eight heads. Likewise, the quotidian life of Cambodia can be likened to the flow of the Mekong, which can be divided into eight headings.
